Green Superfood Smoothie

I've starting having this in the morning and I LOVE it. It seems to really help my mood and energy levels, and is full of nourishing and alkalising nutrients as well as bursting with essential fatty acids. It also keeps me full for literally HOURS after having it.

In blender put:
small handful of nuts like hazelnuts, brazils, almonds, walnuts or pecans
enough warm water to cover
1 dessertspoon of manuka honey
dessertspoon of goji berries
1 tablespoon of pure coconut oil

(you can leave out the above and just do below ingredients and it's also lovely)

Blend the above to a smooth consistency and then add:
a small banana or half an avocado or an organic apple or pear (skin on)
some mixed berries (frozen are fine), about a cupful
1 tablespoon of some kind of Progreens powder, or a mix of spirulina, chlorella, barley grass powders
1 tablespoon of maca powder
30 mls decent aloe vera juice - optional
enough hemp milk, coconut milk/water or rice milk to make the consistency you like
1 tablespoon of hemp protein powder
2 tablespoons of ground mixed seeds (see below)

Whizz up and enjoy. You won't need to eat for a long time!

You can also add in things like wheatgerm, lecithin granules, bee pollen, blackstrap molasses, citrus peel. Experiment and see what tastes good for you.

Ground Seeds

I recommend this for so many clients that I thought I'd add it up here. It's packed with essential fatty acids and magnesium, needed for hormone balance, great skin, effective metabolism. The list goes on. Its taken from Patrick Holford's books:

Fill a jar with the following mix of seeds:

1/2 golden linseeds
1/6 pumpkin seeds
1/6 sunflower seeds
1/6 sesame seeds

Grind a coffee-grinder's worth and store the ground seeds in the freezer to keep them fresh.

Aim to eat 1-2 tablespoons per day, in smoothies, with yoghurt, porridge, stewed fruit or muesli.

Coriander and Garlic Pesto

This came up recently as a great way of getting excess mercury from the blood. Coriander leaves and fresh garlic help to detoxify the mercury. This recipe is also great for getting rid of excess yeast in the gut like Candida or Geotrichum. This is taken from

1 cup fresh coriander leaves
a few walnuts
1 clove garlic
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
6 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

Whizz up and eat 1 tablespoon daily with meals.

Wholewheat and Kamut herb bread

I made this lovely savoury bread in the bread machine the other day and a friend asked for the recipe so here it is.

Follow the recipe for wholewheat bread in your bread machine but substitute about 1/5 flour for kamut flour. I also tossed in a little buckwheat flour that I had around.
Add in about 2 teaspoons dried mixed herbs and extra yeast to help the kamut rise.

It's absolutely delicious warm with a little butter or olive oil.
